The Supply Chain Operations Team Leader is responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and optimizing end-to-end supply chain activities to ensure the smooth, cost-effective, and timely flow of goods, information, and resources. This role requires strong leadership, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage cross-functional teams while maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and operational excellence.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and experienced in leading operational teams within logistics, procurement, inventory management, or warehouse operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operations Management

  1. Oversee daily supply chain operations including procurement, inventory control, warehousing, and logistics.
  2. Ensure timely receipt, storage, dispatch, and delivery of goods as per organizational and customer requirements.
  3. Monitor KPIs such as order accuracy, fulfillment rate, lead time, and stock levels.

2. Team Leadership & Coordination

  1. Lead, train, mentor, and manage supply chain staff, assigning tasks and ensuring smooth workflow.
  2. Conduct performance evaluations and create improvement plans for team members.
  3. Foster a collaborative, efficient, and safety-focused work environment.

3. Inventory & Stock Management

  1. Track inventory levels and forecast future requirements to avoid stockouts or overstocking.
  2. Implement regular cycle counts, stock audits, and data reconciliation procedures.
  3. Coordinate with procurement and warehouse teams for replenishment and stock rotation.

4. Process Improvement & Optimization

  1. Analyze supply chain processes to identify inefficiencies and develop actionable improvement strategies.
  2. Implement best practices for warehouse layout, material handling, and inventory accuracy.
  3. Support automation, digital tracking tools, and system upgrades to improve productivity.

5. Supplier & Vendor Coordination

  1. Coordinate with suppliers, vendors, and logistics service providers for on-time procurement and distribution.
  2. Negotiate timelines, delivery schedules, and service levels when required.
  3. Handle escalation issues and ensure timely resolution.

6. Logistics & Distribution Management

  1. Plan and coordinate transportation schedules, delivery routes, and shipment timelines.
  2. Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and quality guidelines.
  3. Maintain accurate logistics documentation including delivery challans, GRNs, shipment records, and invoices.

7. Reporting & Data Management

  1. Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports for management review.
  2. Utilize ERP systems, inventory tools, and dashboards to track performance metrics.
  3. Present insights, challenges, and recommendations to streamline operations.

8. Compliance & Safety

  1. Ensure adherence to SOPs, quality guidelines, workplace safety rules, and compliance standards.
  2. Conduct regular safety briefings and operational audits.

Required Skills & Competencies

  1. Strong leadership and team-management skills.
  2. Excellent understanding of supply chain processes including procurement, warehousing, logistics, and distribution.
  3. Proficiency in ERP systems, MS Excel, and inventory management software.
  4. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  5. Ability to multitask under pressure while maintaining accuracy.
  6. Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  7. Knowledge of demand planning, forecasting, and vendor management.
  8. Ability to interpret data, generate reports, and recommend process improvements.
  9. Time management, planning, and organizational skills.
  10. Decision-making ability in fast-paced operational environments.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  2. 5+ years of experience in supply chain operations, logistics, warehouse management, or procurement.
  3. Prior experience in a leadership or supervisory role is highly preferred.
  4. Certifications such as CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional), CPIM, or Lean/Six Sigma are an added advantage.
  5. Experience with ERP platforms (SAP, Oracle, Tally, or similar) is beneficial.
