Role Summary
We are looking for a highly hands-on IT Manager who can take end-to-end ownership of hospital IT operations, digital system uptime, network reliability, user support, IT governance, cybersecurity discipline, and future scalability across locations. This role requires someone who can personally troubleshoot issues, anticipate risks before they occur, and ensure that every department functions smoothly on KareXpert and related digital systems.
The ideal candidate must combine strong hospital IT exposure with practical infrastructure knowledge across software, network, connectivity, security, device management, and vendor coordination. This is not a coordinator-only role; the selected person must be proactive, technically strong, ownership-driven, and comfortable resolving issues personally.
Key Responsibilities
Take complete ownership of day-to-day hospital IT functioning.
Ensure business continuity of all departments operating on KareXpert.
Personally troubleshoot and resolve issues across software, internet, networking, devices, access, and user systems.
Monitor and maintain the firewall, switching, Wi-Fi, internet uptime, and endpoint environment.
Coordinate with KareXpert and other vendors for application issues while maintaining internal ownership of closure.
Maintain the legacy HIS environment and ensure patient data remains accessible as required.
Manage user creation, permissions, role-based access, password discipline, and access security.
Create and enforce IT SOPs, backup routines, security practices, and issue escalation protocols.
Oversee asset tracking, hardware rollout, replacements, warranties, and related procurement inputs.
Support diagnostic, radiology, pharmacy, nursing, front office, and back-office digital workflows.
Train teams and improve user discipline in a fully digitized operating environment.
Build preventive monitoring and risk anticipation mechanisms instead of only handling breakdowns.
Lead and supervise the IT team while remaining fully hands-on.
Support IT readiness planning for future locations and expansion.
Must have technical competencies
Strong understanding of hospital IT operations in a fully digitized environment
Hands-on knowledge of HIS / ERP-driven workflow environments
Strong practical grip over network troubleshooting, internet infrastructure, LAN, Wi-Fi, and endpoint issues
Working knowledge of firewalls, switching, access points, and security controls
Experience with access management, user provisioning, role-based permissions, and digital workflow support
Ability to manage cloud-based systems while also supporting legacy on-premise dependencies
Understanding of backups, recovery readiness, and uptime planning
Ability to coordinate and close issues involving multiple vendors.
Educational qualifications
B.E. / B.Tech in Computer Science, IT, Electronics, or related discipline preferred.
MCA / relevant postgraduate IT qualification may also be considered.
BCA or equivalent may be considered only if backed by strong hospital IT experience and hands-on technical depth.
Preferred certifications (good to have, not mandatory):
CCNA / CCNP
Cisco security or networking certifications
ITIL Foundation
CompTIA Security+ / CEH or similar cybersecurity certification
Candidate profile required
5–7 years of total experience is likely appropriate for this role, provided the candidate is genuinely hands-on and mature enough to independently own a hospital IT environment.
Minimum 5 years of experience in large hospitals with digitized infrastructure is required.
Candidates should preferably come from large hospitals with strong digital workflows rather than non-healthcare environments.
Experience in paperless or highly digitized hospital environments is strongly preferred.
Exposure to NABH-oriented environments will be an advantage.
Multi-location support experience is preferred.
Experience during hospital implementation, go-live, stabilization, or digital transformation will be useful.
Candidates must be comfortable being personally accountable for issue resolution and uptime.
Behavioral & Cultural fit
Process-driven
Strong problem solver
Analytical thinker
Hands-on executor
Disciplined
High ownership and accountability
Stable and responsible professional
Ethical and reliable
Calm under pressure and responsive in urgent situations
Patient-safety and uptime-oriented mindset
Closing note
This is a high-importance business continuity role for a fully digitised hospital environment. The selected candidate must think and act like an owner, not just a support resource. We are looking for a dependable, proactive, technically strong, and hands-on hospital IT professional who can ensure stability today and scale readiness for the future.
