Role Overview
The Chief Editor will provide strategic, theological, and creative leadership for all content published by Redemptorist Publication India and Sanctus Redemptor Private Limited. This role integrates contemporary editorial excellence with the Catholic and Redemptorist mission of evangelization, pastoral communication, and transformative faith-based publishing. The Chief Editor ensures that all content—print, digital, multimedia, catechetical, devotional, and pastoral—faithfully reflects Catholic teaching while adhering to global editorial quality standards.
Mission Alignment – Catholic & Redemptorist Identity
▪ Ensure all publications embody the Redemptorist charism of evangelization, compassion, and service to the poor and abandoned.
▪ Safeguard doctrinal accuracy and theological integrity across all content.
▪ Integrate Catholic pastoral communication principles into editorial strategy and content development.
▪ Collaborate with Redemptorist theologians, clergy, and pastoral leaders for content validation.
▪ Promote faith-filled storytelling that supports the Church’s mission of spiritual formation and catechesis.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Editorial & Pastoral Leadership
▪ Define and steward the editorial vision rooted in Catholic theology, Redemptorist charism, and pastoral priorities.
▪ Develop long-term publishing strategies for print, digital, and multimedia faith-based content.
▪ Oversee annual and quarterly editorial planning cycles with a focus on evangelization outcomes.
▪ Ensure all publications are mission-driven, doctrinally sound, and pastorally relevant.
▪ Guide multilingual content strategy for wider evangelization across India and global mission territories.
Editorial Operations & Quality Assurance
▪ Oversee acquisition, evaluation, and development of manuscripts for catechetical, devotional, theological, and pastoral content.
▪ Lead a team of editors, writers, theologians, designers, translators, and production specialists.
▪ Approve author contracts; ensure copyrights, ecclesiastical permissions, and licensing compliance.
▪ Ensure accuracy, faithfulness to doctrine, pastoral sensitivity, and cultural relevance in all publications.
▪ Maintain editorial workflows for proofreading, liturgical verification, theological review, and production.
Digital Evangelization & Content Innovation
▪ Drive digital-first publishing: eBooks, apps, podcasts, devotional audio, and catechetical video scripts.
▪ Integrate Catholic content into web, app, OTT, and social media channels with pastoral orientation.
▪ Use AI-assisted editorial tools to scale translation, commentary writing, and archival digitization.
▪ Ensure digital content supports formation, catechesis, and Redemptorist missionary outreach.
Cross-functional Collaboration & Church Partnerships
▪ Collaborate with Redemptorist Media Center, Liguori Publications USA, parishes, dioceses, and faith-based partners.
▪ Engage clergy, theologians, and subject experts for content quality and ecclesial approvals.
▪ Support Marketing and Sales teams with mission-centered content campaigns and pastoral messaging.
▪ Represent the organization at Catholic publications conferences, theological seminars, and Church media events.
Budgeting, Governance & Performance
▪ Manage editorial budgets with stewardship aligned to mission impact and operational efficiency.
▪ Track KPIs such as evangelization reach, engagement, readership, and publication performance.
▪ Prepare quarterly reports combining editorial quality, pastoral effectiveness, and business insights.
Required Skills & Qualifications
▪ Minimum 5–10 years of editorial or publishing experience, preferably in Catholic or faith-based publishing.
▪ Master’s degree in theology, English, Journalism, Communications, or a related discipline.
▪ Strong grounding in Catholic doctrine, liturgy, catechetics, and pastoral communication.
▪ Proven leadership in managing editorial teams, theologians, and creative contributors.
▪ Expertise in editorial review, doctrinal verification, and pastoral messaging.
▪ Proficiency in Adobe Suite, MS Office, and digital/CMS publishing tools.
▪ Ability to manage complex multi-platform editorial cycles with accuracy and speed.
▪ Excellent written and verbal communication skills; knowledge of Indian regional languages is an advantage.
Preferred / Additional Competencies
▪ Experience with liturgical publications, catechetical programs, and devotional series.
▪ Knowledge of Church approval processes (Imprimatur, Nihil Obstat, ecclesiastical permissions).
▪ Familiarity with Redemptorist spirituality and pastoral ministry.
▪ Experience with digital evangelization channels.
▪ Ability to collaborate with clergy, religious communities, and faith-based scholars.
▪ Experience with AI-assisted workflows for editorial and translation tasks.
Working Conditions
▪ Based in Bangalore with occasional travel to dioceses, parishes, mission centers, and national/international events.
