A Business Analyst (BA) plays a vital role in improving business processes, optimizing operations, and supporting strategic decision-making. This role bridges the gap between business objectives and technical solutions by analyzing needs, identifying challenges, and proposing actionable, data-driven strategies. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and highly skilled in requirements gathering, documentation, and problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

Business Requirements & Analysis

  1. Gather, understand, and document detailed business requirements from stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  2. Conduct deep-dive analysis of current business processes, workflows, and systems to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
  3. Translate business needs into functional and technical specifications for development or implementation teams.
  4. Facilitate requirement workshops, interviews, brainstorming sessions, and user story creation.

Process Improvement & Optimization

  1. Conduct process mapping, workflow analysis, and root-cause analysis to enhance efficiency.
  2. Propose automation opportunities, digital solutions, and process redesigns to support organizational goals.
  3. Work closely with operations, finance, IT, marketing, and other teams to ensure improved processes are implemented smoothly.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  1. Analyze data to understand trends, performance indicators, and business outcomes.
  2. Prepare dashboards, reports, and presentations with actionable insights for management.
  3. Support decision-making with data-driven recommendations and forecasting.

Project Management & Coordination

  1. Act as a liaison between business teams and technical teams throughout project lifecycles.
  2. Support project planning, prioritization, risk assessment, and timeline management.
  3. Assist in UAT (User Acceptance Testing), system testing, and validating delivered solutions meet requirements.
  4. Monitor project progress and provide regular status updates.

Documentation & Communication

  1. Create business requirement documents (BRD), functional requirement documents (FRD), process flows, user stories, SOPs, and training materials.
  2. Communicate complex information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  3. Prepare professional presentations for leadership teams and clients.

Stakeholder Management

Build strong relationships with internal teams, clients, vendors, and external partners.

Manage contrasting expectations and negotiate feasible solutions.

Ensure alignment between business objectives and delivered solutions.

 

Required Skills & Competencies

Technical & Analytical Skills

  1. Strong knowledge of business analysis techniques (SWOT, GAP analysis, root-cause analysis, workflow mapping).
  2. Proficiency in data tools such as Excel, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, or Google Data Studio.
  3. Ability to interpret large datasets and generate insights.
  4. Understanding of software development processes (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall).
  5. Familiarity with ERP systems, CRM tools, and process automation tools.

Communication & Documentation Skills

  1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  2. Ability to convert business requirements into clear, concise documentation.
  3. Strong presentation skills for reports and insights.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  2. Master’s degree (MBA or equivalent) is an added advantage.
  3. Certifications such as CBAP, ECBA, PMI-PBA, Agile/Scrum, or Lean Six Sigma are highly preferred.
  4. Experience with data visualization tools, project management software, and enterprise systems is beneficial.
